Our roots in real estate run deep.

Portland Downtown

Along Fourth Avenue in downtown Portland, sycamore trees shade passersby and add somethign special to what is already a greaceful and vibrant city. The trees are a symbol of Melvin Mark Companies. We planted them years ago in a time when many of Portland's most beloved features were only a vision.

For more than 65 years, we have worked to achieve that vision: to help the city return to the river, to help build Pioneer Courthouse Square and soon the James Beard Public Market and fill it with the bounty of our region each year, to renovate and preserve the historic buildings that give Portland distinctive character and human scale.

Occassionally, we are asked why we care so much about this community, why we pay so much attention to quality and details, why we place such a high value on long-term relationships - respect.

The fundamental principle that has always guided this company, and always will is respect for the land on which we build, respect for the people in our community and respect for the ideas that with hard work become trees...and buildings...and public spaces.

Today, Portland is one of the world's most beautiful, sustainable and welcoming cities in which to live, work and raise a family. We're proud to have played a role in making it so.
