Tom James Company
Tom James Company is the world’s largest manufacturer of custom clothing. A longtime tenant of Columbia Square, the shop offers custom-tailored apparel for men and women in the greater Portland area. Tucked away in the Class A building’s ground floor retail space, Tom James needs space that is both practical for their workshop and accessible for customers. The company has worked with Melvin Mark Brokerage Company for years to negotiate lease extensions and recently finished a complete remodel. They regard the brokerage team as both personable and professional, and an invaluable asset during the remodel from start to finish.
Luxe Beaute’ Salon
When the owner of Luxe Beaute’ Salon decided to start her own business, she needed to be convenient to her current clients. She found the right spot at Lovejoy Square with easy access for existing clients and great visibility for walk-in customers. Broker Don Drake, representing the landlord, worked with her to navigate the lease and design the perfect beauty shop for her new business.
When Pedego Bikes was looking for its first Oregon location, they needed the right spot to tap into the local market’s affinity for bike commuting. As their business both sells and rents electric bikes, they wanted to reach the growing number of tourists drawn to the city’s outdoor lifestyle and laid-back culture. The Melvin Mark Brokerage team found a retail storefront in the city’s Old Town-Chinatown area – home to Saturday Market, Voodoo Doughnuts and just steps from the premier biking trail along both sides of the Willamette River.
This apparel store is both showroom and incubator for a growing crop of Portland designers. The owner displays his own collection of fine ready-to-wear collections created for both men and women. And he provides services to help young designers get started – from sewing to photography – and a place to display one-of-a-kind creations. Store owners needed an accessible location with good retail storefront and enough office space to manage services for their clientele.
Harley Davidson PDX Speed Shop
When the owners of Harley Davidson PDX Speed Shop went looking for a new location, they were also looking for a new type of customer. Ultimately, they settled on 4,407 square feet of retail space at Lovejoy Square-South in the Pearl District. They wanted an urban location that would attract a new, younger rider. Broker Don Drake represented the landlord and worked with the tenant’s broker to secure the perfect fit in an area that caters to twenty- and thirty-somethings and is surrounded by urban lofts, boutique shops and popular restaurants. Their store features fewer Harley bikes and more of the Harley lifestyle, including merchandise and clothing.
Featured in Portland Monthly Magazine as one of Portland’s best jewelry stores, Grayling’s retail store and adjoining workshop are located on trendy NE Alberta Street. When looking for new retail space, it took the owner more than a year to find just the right spot at the right price. Working with the Melvin Mark Brokerage team, Grayling found a space nestled among other small retail boutiques and restaurants—the perfect neighbors to help share and attract shoppers. The space was well-suited to showcase the store’s custom jewelry products in an environment that allows shoppers to relax and explore at their own pace.
