In 2017, San Francisco-based tech company Expensify decided they wanted to expand their operations and open an office location in Portland. Our brokerage team of Peter Andrews, Paul Andrews, and Don Drake, considered several locations and ultimately believed the space available at a beautiful historic bank building in downtown would be a perfect fit. After Expensify agreed we connected them to ZGF Architects, who helped renovate the building with features like wood-and-brass tables, private wooden huts, and “floating” conference rooms.
Just two years after Expensify made their move to Portland, they turned to our brokerage team again to help them purchase the building from Seven Hill Properties. After a successful transaction in August 2019, our relationship continued and Melvin Mark Brokerage Company was chosen to be the building’s property manager. Today we’re responsible for streamlining operations throughout the building’s 44,336 square feet of space and facilitating any future tenant improvements.
